Ford Cortina

Cortina
Believe it or not, this Ford from the United Kingdom came close to American shores. It was imported and sold in Canada up until 1973, which makes it a little easier to find a used example. The platform was known as ‘Cortina Mark III’, but unfortunately these were known to rust horribly and there’s not many left today.

The last of the Cortinas from the side looks remarkably like a Ford Maverick of the time. The nose looks like an early 60s Falcon. Body styles were 2-door coupe, 4-door sedan, or station wagon. Trim levels were base, L, XL or GT.

The standard engine was a 1600cc I4 making 75hp. The 1300cc I4 making 62hp was avaialable though not widely advertised by this point. Transmissions were a 4-speed manual or a 3-speed automatic.
