Chevrolet Monte Carlo SS
The SS version of the Monte arrived for 1983. It was created as an ‘IN’ for a better Nascar vehicle. Not to mention it was a while since Chevy had a conventional midsize musclecar, let alone anything with the ‘SS’ suffix.
The most visible difference is the aerodynamic nose and rear spoiler. The suspension also was tightened up to deliver better cornering. Underhood was a 305 CID 4bbl High Output V8. It delivered 180hp. It was backed with a 3.42 performance axle ratio.
It was available this year in white or dark blue only. Appropriate graphics were also included. Around 4700 copies of the SS were produced its first year.
