Comet
By ’73, the Comet was in its third model year of the generation and it was corporate cousin to Ford’s Maverick. Body styles were a coupe or sedan. Until 1975, there was a Comet GT model available. This added blacked out trim, a faux hood scoop, and tape stripes.
For ’76 and ’77 you could get the ‘Sports Accent’ group which included the same basic add-ons. The standard engine was the 200 I6, with 250 I6 and 302 V8 being optional through the rest of the model run. A 3-speed manual transmission was standard on the six cylinder with a 3-speed automatic being optional. The automatic was standard on the V8. The final model year for the Comet was 1977.
