This was the exact name of the 4-door sedan in the 140 series, but Volvo marketed it as its own model. The 144 was in its final two years as of 1973 and 1974, carrying a design that was around since 1970. Wheelbase was 102 inches and overall length was 183 inches.
Powering this boxy sedan was a 1986cc MFI I4, known as the B20F at Volvo. The fuel injection system was a K-Jetronic system from Bosch. It made 112hp and 120ft/lbs of torque. Both 4-speed manual and 3-speed automatic transmissions were available.
